Cynthia Marcus
Founder, The Marcus Law Firm in Fishers, Indiana
Cynthia Marcus concentrates her practice in the areas of family law and medical malpractice. She is a trained mediator, using her skills to represent clients in divorce, child support and custody, and medical malpractice cases.
Cynthia "Cynde" Marcus was born in Corona, California. She grew up in Michigan, graduating from Rockford High School. Following graduation, she attended the University of Michigan. She enlisted in the United States Air Force. After completing technical training as a Operating Room Technician, she was assigned to Homestead Air Force Base in Florida.
After completing her service in the Air Force, Cynde used her GI Bill to finish school. She attended Grand Rapids Junior College earning her Associate Degree in nursing. As a Registered Nurse, she worked in the areas of critical care, surgery, and rehabilitation. She was commissioned as an officer in the United States Army Reserves where she soldiered part-time and worked full-time establishing and directing the multistate HIV testing program for the Army Reserves. She attended Mercy College of Detroit and finished her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing at Ball State University.
While attending basic training for the United States Army Reserves, she met Ed Marcus. They later married. Ed is a dentist in Indianapolis. They have two children and enjoy scuba diving, traveling, and canoeing.
Cynde graduated from Indiana University School of Law – Indianapolis. She worked for several years in an Indianapolis firm before leaving to start The Marcus Law Firm in 2002. She is a litigator who tries cases in both state and federal courts. She appeals cases in the areas of Family Law and Medical Malpractice. Her military experience assists her in the representation of both service members and current/former spouses of service members with regard to divorce, custody, and military retired pay.
Her experience as a Registered Nurse is invaluable in explaining a client's injuries to a jury. She is able to differentiate between medical malpractice situations when health care providers are negligent and when they are not. She has the ability to understand and communicate the many facets of a severe injury. As a Registered Nurse, the most important part of her job was advocating for her clients. As a lawyer, her ability to advocate for others has been taken one step further.
Cynde represents health care providers before the Indiana Health Professions Boards in actions against their licenses. Her unique perspective both as a nurse and as an attorney allows her insight into the many pressures faced by health care providers.
She has been active with both local and state youth hockey organizations. Cynde volunteers as a guardian ad litem for youth in Hamilton County. She is a member of Sigma Theta, an honorary group of nurses nominated by their professors for service.

John Joseph Uskert
John Uskert was born on August 25, 1947 in Gary, Indiana and spent his formative years in Gary and Valparaiso, Indiana. He graduated from the college preparatory program at Gary Andrean High School in 1965. After attending Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, John Uskert enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1968. He was initially stationed in the continental United States, then served overseas in Okinawa and Korea as a radar technician on the F-102 fighter/interceptor aircraft. He returned to the United States for his last duty assignment at Tyndall Air Force Base, Panama City, Florida, and received his Honorable Discharge in May 1972.
John Uskert resumed his studies and received his A.A. degree from Gulf Coast Community College in Panama City, Florida in May 1973 and his B.S. in Pharmacy from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama in May 1976. He pursued his career in retail pharmacy in Panama City, Florida where he practiced until August 1987.
At age 39, John Uskert graduated in 1990 from the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University, an ABA-approved law school located in Birmingham, Alabama. Upon graduation, he completed and passed the Florida bar exam and was admitted to practice by the Florida Supreme Court. John Uskert established his own successful civil law firm in Panama City where he practiced until June 2006.
John Uskert returned to his roots and extended family in Indiana where he was admitted to the Indiana Bar and was sworn in and admitted to practice before all Indiana State Courts in August 2006.
He has used his pharmacist training to represent his pharmacy colleagues in civil and criminal proceedings, and has assisted with corporate pharmacy organization.
He maintains his pharmacy licenses in Florida and Alabama, and has recently applied for his Indiana pharmacist license.

Allison Martinez
Allison L. Martinez was born in Nuremberg, Germany, as her father was active duty in the U.S. Army. After moving eleven times
throughout Germany and the United States, her family settled into Elizabethtown, Kentucky, where Allison graduated from high
school. She went on to earn her B.A. in Political Science from the University of Kentucky and later obtained her J.D. from the
Valparaiso University School of Law in Valparaiso, Indiana.
While in college, Allison was extremely active in the Soldier’s Angels Foundation where she regularly shipped care packages to
deployed troops fighting in Operation Iraqi Freedom. She was also actively involved in the Veteran’s Law Society and organized
the annual Veteran’s Day Run for the Fallen 5K for the Valparaiso community.
Today, Allison continues to support our troops through TAPS and also provides legal assistance to soldiers in need through Indiana
Lawyers for Soldiers. Indiana Lawyers for Soldiers is a statewide network of volunteer attorneys providing legal services for Indiana
National Guard personnel who are deployed or returning from a deployment.
Allison is dedicated to serving clients with diverse legal issues while concentrating in family law. She is also dedicated to serving
the youth of Hamilton County through the guardian ad litem program.
