Biography

Founder, The Marcus Law Firm, LLC in Fishers, Indiana

Cynthia Marcus concentrates her practice in the areas of family law and professional license defense. She is a trained mediator, using her skills to represent clients in divorce, child support and custody, and nursing license cases.

Cynthia “Cynde” Marcus was born in Corona, California. She grew up in Michigan, graduating from Rockford High School. Following graduation, she attended the University of Michigan. She served in the United States Air Force. After completing technical training as a Operating Room Technician, she was assigned to Homestead Air Force Base in Florida.

After completing her service in the Air Force, Cynde used her GI Bill to complete her Bachelor’s degree in nursing at Ball State University. As a Registered Nurse, she worked in the areas of critical care, surgery, and rehabilitation. She was commissioned as an officer in the United States Army Reserves where she worked on active duty establishing and directing the multistate HIV testing program for the Army Reserves.

While attending basic training for the United States Army Reserves, she met Ed Marcus. They later married. Ed is a dentist in Indianapolis. They have two children and enjoy scuba diving, traveling, and canoeing.

Her experience as a Registered Nurse is invaluable in defending nurses before the Indiana State Board of Nursing. As a Registered Nurse, the most important part of her job was advocating for her clients. As a lawyer, her ability to advocate for others has been taken one step further.

Cynde graduated from Indiana University School of Law. She worked for several years in an Indianapolis firm before leaving to start the Marcus Law Firm in 2002. She is a litigator who tries cases in both state and federal courts. She appeals cases in the areas of Family Law and business litigation. Her military experience assists her in the representation of both service members and current/former spouses of service members with regard to divorce, custody, and military retired pay.

With over 29 years experience in Family Law, Cynde has represented hundreds of clients embroiled in divorce litigation involving their children and financial futures. She is an aggressive, level headed lawyer who will be with you and stand for your rights every step of the way.

Cynde represents health care providers before the Indiana Health Professions Boards in actions against their licenses. Her unique perspective both as a nurse and as an attorney allows her insight into the many pressures faced by health care providers.

She has been active with both local and state youth hockey organizations. Cynde has volunteered as a guardian ad litem for youth in Hamilton County.
